How can I resolve an "Internet Explorer Script Error" issue?

I'm having difficulty setting up a secondary user account on my PC (running Windows XP). Each time I log into the account, I get the following error message:

"Internet Explorer Script Error: An error has occurred in the script on this page. Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?"

Issue 1: I'm not running IE when this happens!

Issue 2: The "line:", "char:", etc. entries on the error message are blank.

Issue 3: It doesn't matter if I choose "Yes", "No", or simply try to close the window...it doesn't go away! If I open IE, the error message will quickly find it's way to the top (time varies) and prevent me from using IE.

Issue 4: This does not happen on my primary user account.

Here's what I have tried: I have un- %26amp; reinstalled IE. I have deleted and recreated the user account...all w/ no luck. I have also ran my virus and spyware programs...again, no luck!

Please help-- any useful advice will be appreciated!

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html

The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at

http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html

The first thing I would try is to install Internet Explorer 7 (and all other available updates for XP and Office) from the Microsoft Update site (http://update.microsoft.com). You might have to return to the site several times to get all the updates, since they sometimes build upon previous ones. You should be able to do the updating from the primary account. I might delete the secondary user account before I do these updates and then recreate it later and see if that fixes the problem.

In relation to Issue 1, it's not totally surprising that you would see this message even if IE doesn't appear to be running. IE is very deeply embedded into Windows and it (or one of its components) might just be running in the background. You could check to see if it's running by looking in the Task Manager (you can get to it with CTRL - ALT - DEL), going under the "Processes" tab, and looking for a process called "iexplore.exe".

If that doesn't work I might just reformat--but that might be too big of a step.
